Q about Mobo Compatibility with CPU & GPU

Hello everyone. I’m a first time builder and unsure what board will best suit my needs.

I’m going with the E6600 CPU and the X1950XT video card. I’d prefer not to spend more than $200 on a board. I don’t wish to run two video cards together in the same machine, so an SLI chip is unnecessary. Also, in the future I’ll likely purchase a digital camcorder, so an onboard IEEE1394 port would be nice but it’s not essential.

I’ve done some research and it seems like any of the following 5 motherboards would work well with the 6600 and X1950XT. Is one particularly better than the other? Would you guys recommend one of these or something else entirely?
- DFI Infinity P965-S
- Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
- Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 (rev. 1.3)
- ASUS P5W DH Deluxe/WIFI-AP
- ASUS P5B Deluxe

The Gigabyte 965p DS3 is a good board, it doesn't have an onboard IEEE1394 port though. If you don't plan on overclocking v1.3 would work fine.
What digital camcorder are you looking at? I just got the JVC GZ-MG155 not a bad little camcorder, 30GB HDD, USB 2.0, 32x optical zoom... Video is fairly good, still pictures are mediocre (it is a camcorder) overall I give it a 8/10.

To be honest, I haven’t given it much thought. I have money saved up for a computer, so that’s what I’m focused on now. I’ll look into the JVC though. Thanks.

If you're getting a camcorder, it's really a good idea to get on board firewire. You'll get 3 PCI slots at best, why use one up for a firewire card? If you don't need SLI, this is a nice mobo and will save you some $$
