I have a Q6600 OC'd currently to 2.95 because as soon as i go to 3.0 the temps go crzy, and start to hit 60 and higher. I cool it with water.

At 2.95 the temps peak around 50c when the water is average temp.

I've got a 680i from EVGA, 2gigs of 667 ram and 2 PSU's.

I have been messing with Vcore, but the results have not been nice :p

help?

oo and i have B3 stepping :(

huh, thanks for the info man. I also have a quick question about ram timings... i thought i had my ram at 819 mhz.. but i can't see that anywhere in windows or my 3rd party software. Only in the BIOS. Is there a way to confirm?

Hmmm this is beginning to scare me, I just bought a q6600 with the intention (with reccomendations from people on the board) to oc it to 3ghz on air, am I screwed?

No, although with a 680i, lucky you to get over 2.8ish!! I had my b3 higher, but set it to 3.2 on air, and under full load the temps can get pretty high. Mid 70's. From what I have read, 60c isnt bad, 65 isnt bad. 70 isnt good, hehe, and mid 70's are getting up there.
Then again, everyone says something different. I have had the cores up over 88c, so... that I would think of has HOT.

lol, I was going with intel's reccomended max temp of 55, and the absolute max of 60c... if your saying that 60's isn't bad.. damn i could go a deal higher :p

Hahaha, I got em up to 92c, lol!! But have a pic at 91c and higher at a VCore of like 1.64, lol. Fry? Well... I have the thermal junk disabled. But doesnt throttling apply at 85c, and then the other heat state at 90c with it on?
I am not frying it, however, I could prolly Fry something on it! Since I accedentally set the VCore to 1.81250 or whatever, I do know that it can operate fine with that voltage and heat for a lil while... I mean, I only leave it up there a min or two. I may be dumb, but at least I am not stupid! I really just wanted to see where the b3's limit was that I own. If I want 3.6 with it, its gonna fry. ::Shrugs.:: But it can be stable, hehe.
