Hi everyone,

Just installed new G0 q6600 and system booted and works without problem

However,

Asus PC Probe reports temperature of CPU as 15C while MB is 30

Same problem with Speedfan

Core Temp 0.95 reports temps about 34-5

Running Superpi as single thread raises temps to 40 and 20 with Core Temp and PC probe respectively

Equipment is

Asus P5B latest bios

Q6600 G0

2 Gb 800 Elixir DDR2
1 Scsi drive
2 sata drives
2 DVDRWs
Antec 420 modular power supply
SuperAlien Case with 7 fans

Any ideas as to whether there could be a hardware/software problem
Could the CPU not be seated properly and still apaprently work fine

Any ideas please

Thanx, the worrying thing is that the BIOS also under-reports the temperature

It appears that the G0 stepping does run very cool so the temps of 35C may be accurate

use everest to read temps instead
in my case i got idle temps of 31 34 32 34 in idle
with speedfan they were around 20-24c in idle

Anyone ever use SIW for a quick check? I had issues with Speedfan cycling through a 100+ temp swing every few seconds.
Just wondering if anyone had checked for accuracy.

Here are my current temps with a full load on all of my CPUs. I am guessing the cores might be a little unbalanced due to a very slightly warped heatsink I'm planning to lap later. I'm using the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme heatsink, G0 CPU, Abit IP35 PRO MB, and 8800GTS. Ambient temp is about 80F.

CPU Core 0 45 ºC (113 ºF)
CPU Core 1 43 ºC (109 ºF)
CPU Core 2 45 ºC (113 ºF)
CPU Core 3 40 ºC (104 ºF)
GPU 56 ºC (133 ºF)
ST3320620AS 42 ºC (108 ºF) (hard drive)

After running idle for about 5 minutes

Property Value
CPU Core 0 38 ºC (100 ºF)
CPU Core 1 36 ºC (97 ºF)
CPU Core 2 38 ºC (100 ºF)
CPU Core 3 36 ºC (97 ºF)
GPU 56 ºC (133 ºF)
ST3320620AS 42 ºC (108 ºF)

my cores are Running at 15ºC idle right now :p ... yay for water cooling
but yeah when i used my stock cooler, at about 25ºC room temp, it would be around the 35-40ºC mark idle.

anyway i use Core Temp, never tried speed fan as i'm too lazy to set the 15ºC offset in the settings
