Q8400 on BFG SLI 680i Strange Problem

I recently upgraded from my e6600 Core2Duo to a Q8400 Core2Quad. Using the same motherboard, fan, and everything, I figured I could over clock my Q8400 from 2.66 (stock) to at least 3.3 because I had OCed the e6600 from 2.4 (stock) to 3.4 with just a big typhoon CPU fan. I reset the jumpers on the motherboard to clear the CMOS, and rebooted the machine, but now if I touch any setting on the CPU in the bios (trying to overclock it) the machine won't boot. I have no idea what is going on. I can't even get it to boot at 2.7 even though stock is just 2.66 . I figured updating the bios might help but BFG no longer makes motherboards and there's no easy way to do it. Anyone have any ideas?

You're pretty much gonna have to get a new motherboard. Some folks have reported being able to get Yorkfields to work, however in your case it doesn't.

How do I know if my processor is Yorkfield? I don't remember which one I purchased. I recently got it to boot at stock speeds and now I'm having a bitch of a time trying to get it to be stable at 3.2 Ghz with a 400 FSB .

Used CPU Z yeah it is a Yorkfield. Ugh. Why is it booting at all then if its not supported?

Just because it boots doesn't mean anything. If it is not supported, then that means they can't help you or provide a solution for anything related to that CPU.
