I have a an ASUS P5N-D and a Thermaltake V1 fan/heatsink on my Q9450 in a Coolermaster Cosmos case. Ambient temp is 20C and I am seeing 45C idle and 53-55C on load using Asus Probe II software. Are these temps high for the Q9450? The reason why I'm asking is because the PC has frozen twice recently and I'm wondering if the CPU is running too hot.

Thanks,
Walt

Welcome to the forums!

Use RealTemp.
Your temperatures are okay, a little on the high side. Might just be PC Probe.
Test the memory with memtest86+.
Tell us about your power supply and setup.

Maybe just a bit high, but well within acceptable ranges. I don't think that is the reason your machine is locking up. Ideally, you should be sitting around high 20's to mid 30's, and mid to high 40's under load. I would run some basic tests on your HDs and your RAM just to make sure there are no hardware errors.

I'm not sure what you mean about my setup but my power supply is a Corsair 750TX, I have two DVD/CDROMs, a Palit 9600GT 1GB and running 2 2GB Corsair DHX DDR2 6400 4 latency sticks.

BTW just installed Realtemp and my temps show Core0-3 39C/32C/35C/35C at idle

Thanks Victor, I guess the CPU temps are not my problem. As stated in this thread earlier maybe there is some other hardware problem, possibly in the memory. I'll get Memtest86 and check it out.
