I use Vista x64 right now and I've been using the betas and RC's of Win7 and I've been pleased. Not sure if it's been enough that I'd want to drop cash on a new OS.

Switching from both. Vista and XP both have their advantages and disadvantages, so... i use both on the same machine.
Hopefully 7 doesnt suck satan's balls and i can replace both xp and vista at the same time.
At work i still use OSX

Well am I the only one who was not really impressed with W7 RC. Half of it, I blame it on ASUS for their unreliable and underperformed Xonar driver on W7 though (cracking sound). And the other half are on actually all these new under the hood improvements do not make it faster on my computer (it's an upper mainstream rig); new GUI features are good but I rarely use these features as I'm the type that use keyboards to navigate and open apps far more than the mouse; Media playback is kinda annoying, too, MS changed something in the way they build DirectShow filter graph that makes it hard to use filters I like.

All in all, at its CURRENT form I don't think I will move to it right away. It does improve on Vista but it is not impressive enough. Vista SP2 over here actually feel smoother subjectively.

I did, and I don't regret it.
I don't even run a XP/7 dual boot anymore.

XP Home x32 to Win7 Ultimate 7000 x64 to 7100 x64.
I've had to reinstall the 7 OS once, but that was largely due to my own fault.

[citation][nom]phatboe[/nom]Also I'm not to fond of how MS has dumbed down the interface, I guess it's supposed to make it easier for newcommers but for people like me who are used to the win XP GUI it's a pain.[/citation]

Nicely put.
Yes, too many factors were simplified.
I understand that it only affects enthusiasts in the long term, only counting for a small market share, but it can be rather annoying.
At the same time, it's nice. I don't use programs to burn CD or ISOs anymore, managing my music library is easier etc.

The transition from XP to 7 is easy.

Of cource ! Already running multiple builds of Win7 included RC

Will be using it until release

There are so many fundermental reasons why your be crazy not to choose it over xp and vista.

The way it handles multple pieces of hardware such as 2 sounds cards or 2 videos cards is alone a reason why I run it.

I can switch audio cards in realtime during playaback. Something XP would probably crasdh when trying to do if it had the option and and something vista cant do without stopping the current sound stream.

Apart from that its the most stable for everything especially gaming.

Open your eyes, everything else was made reduntant from beta 7048.

I use both XP and Vista now, and I am also using Win7 RC1. I am happy with all 3 OSes, and will probably continue to use all 3 for some time to come.

A lot people knocked Vista for 1 reason or another but I never had any major issues with it even the original release.

I will continue to use XP because Win 7's XPM does not have the performance.

I will continue to use Vista because Win 7 adds new DRM for its Media Center that is causing me some problems.

I will use Win 7 because both the user experience and security are better than both XP and Vit.

I'm using Windows 7 from neither. I always use the newest OS no matter. I have been running Windows 7 on my netbook since the BEAT release and love it. Now I have RC1 on it and love it more.

Im undecided between optimum XP performance on my netbook and total awesomeness in W7. Ran 7 only on the netbook and still running it now... when it comes out ill consider going from xp on my desktop but as a student ill probably end up keeping xp on the netbook

With my next build, i will move to Windows 7, but for now Vista x64 works just fine for me. Its even a little faster then 7, but that is because it has 3 x WD blacks(Short Stroked) in (R)AID0 running it :).

I had higher hopes for the Virtual Windows XP features, but there is NO hardware acceleration yet.

I AM running it now to test....Anyone else notice Quake II makes winamp pause until the game is over....strange...Report time for AOL and MS....

I'm dual-booting XP and W7.

XP for anything that isn't compatible with W7 yet, and W7 for everything else. So far, I'm really liking the way it looks and feels. I rather liked the smoothness of OSX, but liked how Windows ran, now I get both.

hard to say. my daily rig is xp 32 and i can't seem to put it down, it does everything i need it to. i made another box with vista 64 and it does ok but not good enough for me to abandon my daily rig. i just don't like how vista hogs system resources and constantly runs the HD. so, i barely turn that thing on.

i think by the time i decide to give up on my current box i will go with windows7.

so xp to windows7

If the transition is truly as good as it sounds it will be, I'll be going from XP to 7. Vista just didn't work for me the way I expected it to, with a few key programs which I needed for work, that weren't compatible.

I am running unbutu, vista, and 7 as a triple boot.. I will drop vista when the oem release for 7 comes out. I really like 7 allot. I have had no problems with it at all.. No blue screens but have had a few with vista because of nvidia drivers...

Most likely not since I don't see any reason to go from Vista to 7. Unlike what Microsoft is hyping, the changes aren't quite worth it except maybe more supported media that can be played natively.

I would maybe only get it for my media centre since I do like the ability to rewind my H.264 videos in Windows Media Center.

For my main PC, I'd rather keep my copy of Server 2008 ... maybe I'd get Server 2008 R2 when my college gets the licenses for it and hand it to us students. The only speed boost I saw was on Server 2008 R2 and not on Windows 7. With a tweaked Server 2008 installation, it's relatively close to the performance to Windows 7 already. Plus, a lot of the changes in the UI I don't like ... like window transparency even when the window is maximized annoys me.

Installed the Release Canidate on my second hard drive today, loved it.

True, it was made for people who aren't enthusiasts, but still, I like the design. And I think I will definitly be switching to Windows 7 when it comes out. Not that I don't like vista, but W7 is just awesome-sauce incarnate.

[citation][nom]JMcEntegart[/nom]Yeah, I don't know if you got the email but you're co-authored.[/citation]
Yes, I got the e-mail. I hadn't noticed the co-authoring, thanks :)
Actually, my fist byline ever on the WWW
