The early Commander Keen series (1-3), and the original Prince of Persia.
I also thought the best console game was Alex the Kid- which was the game built into the Sega Master System.

Oh man... So many good games from BITD! Fallout 2, King's Quest V, Planescape: Torment, SSI Gold Box series, and Space Quest!

Dawn of War + expansions were, and still are, so great - hard to compare to StarCraft; too close to call. VTMB (Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines) still one of the (if not the very) best PC RPGs. Full Throttle was a fantastic LucasArts SCUMM game. Quake2 and HL1 elevated FPS games for me, even though I grew up on DN3D and Q1.

I have to add Far Cry. That game made me go wow so many times and it pretty much came out of nowhere, based on a tech demo. The ending was stupid hard and I had to cheat the first time to finish it though.

I still can't believe how much we play Red Orchestra - I guess the reason this WWII shooter has so much staying power is the constant (free) updating and new content like maps - but overall I just can't have this unique WWII online experience with anything else - it is more realistic - it is more laden with "moments" like you're in a WWII movie ... I still give it 5 stars.

Diablo II, it is seriously a never ending and super engaging game...the only problem is that 800x600 resolution sucks!

Command & Conquer: Renegade.

The first time I played it on full settings, I thought the graphics were amazing (first FPS I ever played)

The gameplay (online) still beats any other game I've played so far. Far Cry 2 is fun. Crysis is fun. COD is fun. ET:QW is sh** (sorry, had to put it out there.) CNC Renegade is just plain WIN imo... In what other game do you get to buy characters and vehicles (and on some servers, base defenses) using points you earn by killing/damaging enemy infantry, vehicles, and structures? Well, there is- and it is called Renegade-X. It brings the old Renegade experience to Unreal Engine 3. (look it up on Moddb under the UT3 mods)

Everquest through Planes of Power. Those times will never come again.

I have been playing PC games since DOOM and the only games that I have played, that actually made my heart race and just feel "WOW" was Half-Life, Mass Effect and Nights of the Old Republic.
I do remember Out of This World, I thought the graphics at the time were Out of this World! lol

Hmmm... hard question, as there are/were so many great PC games out there. I guess it all comes down to the amount of time I played one singular game.

Going by that, I would say that MechWarrior 3 would have to be #1 in my books.. nothing better then a FPS.. especially if that FPS puts you in a customizable gigantic robotic killing machine!!

#2 would be the original Ghost Recon... game was awesome and had some of the best co-op game play Ive seen, even to present date.
