I have been using Windows 7 since i got a hold of a copy of the pre-beta(64-bit of course). And last night i just switched over to the Windows 7 Pro x64 RTM.(MSDNAA FTW!)

On a side note there is only like a 20USD difference between the ultimate and the Pro SKUs(last time i checked) And the only major difference i saw between the two where language packs and the bit/app locker. Is that really worth the extra 20USD?

I wont be running it right away. They want way to much for something that should be free to us all for putting up with Vista. I will wait for my buddy toget his multi license.

Since I skipped Vista i'll need to get a full license for this... I'll upgrade, just not sure if I'm willing to shell out the cash quite so soon. probably wait until December and hope for some sort of boxing day special.

[citation][nom]dlux[/nom]I'm in no hurry. I've had 0 problems with Vista since I got it and don't exactly see the need, let alone day 1. If anything I would wait a few weeks at the least to see if anything major pops up and they get all the wrinkles ironed out. MS isn't exactly known for flawless roll outs.[/citation]
Dude, no offense, really, but I don't get this at all. Vista may work fine for you, but Vista is not a good OS, though Windows 7 redeems it nicely. As for waiting a week, or a month, or even a year, is totally silly. I've been running Windows 7 for 2 months now without any of the problems I encounter regularly with Vista. So yes, upgrading to 7 is a smart move for most, and while you may choose not to do so yet, don't take comfort in your reasoning because it is flawed.

Been using Win7RC for months now. Since the installs are good until March - thats when the nagging for death starts, I'll buy a final version after Christmas.

Home version will do for all my PCs... but I may get a single PRO version since I have at least 3 programs that don't work in Win7, not even in COMPATIBILITY mode.

[citation][nom]dextermat[/nom]I'll stick with xp for a few more month until we know witch nasty virus will target it. Wait maybe for price drop[/citation]

Since when has there been much of a price drop for a MS OS after release?
XP-Home is still $100, XP-MCE is still about $115~125 and XP-PRO is still $140~150 - All of these are OEM versions, of course.

I probably won't be putting Win 7 on anything until I get some newer computers. I've got a preorder Home premium coming tomorrow, and an ultimate that I got at a MicroSoft conference for free, but XP works for me right now.

No way. I'm waiting until they release several patches to fix the numerous security holes that will be in Windows 7. I think anyone who gets it early is just playing with a buggy and vulnerable OS until at least 6-12 months after the official release. At least after some time it will not be as vulnerable to hacks -- as Microsoft will have time to patch those loopholes. Bad idea to get an OS early in my opinion. Don't get me wrong though, I believe Windows 7 will be the new Windows XP.

I've been running since beta and have had the RTM installed for about a month. Love it. I also got a Windows 7 Party pack... I figured I deserved 10 tote bags and balloons for all my shameless W7 promotion.

XP Home $59.99.

Nope.

I'm waiting on the Gateway Vista restore CD too so if Win 7 is crap I can reinstall Vista and suffer til I get Linux dual booting with it.

If Win 7 is an Epic Fail to me, MS has lost me for anything more than booting to play a video game.

I had high hopes for Win 7, and actually ran the RC build 7100 for a month or so. While it is certainly better than Vista, it still offers nothing to make me give up PCLinuxOS 2009.2. PCLOS does everything I need in an OS and actually runs quite a bit faster on my laptop than Win 7.

Already running Windows 7 (since beta), and already having valid license key (MSDN AA 😛)
