I pre-ordered it while they had that deal going for 50% off, so hopefully it'll be here tomorrow.
RC1 is running just fine though, so no big rush.

i got my copy of windows 7 a week ago through microsoft, and i still haven't installed it yet. I bought an OEM copy of vista and it has been flawless. I think i'll hold off on seven, especially since most of the little knick-knacks added such as pin list and snap have apple written all over them

Windows XP was the last Microsoft OS for me. I use openSUSE now, I have better 3D desktop effects that require less hardware resources, I even have it on my EeePC with the full effects enabled. It takes up a lot less disk space and requires less RAM etc. And best of all it's free!
But good luck to all you Win7 people. You all deserve better after Windows ME II er.. I mean Windows Vista :-D Oh and with CrossOver Games I still can play TF2 and Half-Life2.Quake Live is supported in firefox. I'll save the $299 for a new Video card when I get tired of my GTX-260. Again good luck and may the BSOD leave you alone :-D

I'm replacing my very old storage drive of 80GB with 1TB and letting Win 7 64 fly on my raptor 150. Been running Win 7 RCs since March though.

installing it on a new build for family member. and also bought a win7pro upgrade disc to go from xp to win7pro.

only bummer is that apparently you have to supposedly install xp before upgrading to win7...you can't just insert the disc and license to prove xp ownership if you are for example installing on a blank hard drive. any truth to that?

why is everyone waiting for the 'bugs' to get out? It is vista with the bugs out! It is by far the least buggy system that I have ever used! Runs just as fast as XP on my computer, and made my wife's computer speed up a ton from vista! It is easy to use, and it just works.

With that said my RC is still good till the summer, so I will buy a copy then, but I have enjoyed win7 for almost a year now and I could never imagine going back to the stone age of xp/vista.

I've been running it since the first beta. And I've had the RTM since it came out so technically yes I will be running Windows 7 today.

I get the best performance out of my hardware running on XP x64. That said I have had Windows 7 on my laptop for several months as a way to force myself into learning the nuances with its less than intuitive interface, as I figure eventually some software will be released that I need to use will not be compatible on XP forcing my switch. It's just nice to know the ins and outs of an OS before making it your main one. I don't want my main OS making me pull my hair out. I want it to be a smooth experience that I can navigate and fix problems quickly on.

Pre-ordered W7ultimate and it was shipped yesterday. It will be the first time I use W7 and I'm tossing my XP. Never used Vista.

Had access to Windows 7 via MSDN through work, GOGO free Microsoft software 😛... Windows 7 is simply the best OS!!! would never go back to XP i had vista installed for 2weeks when it came out and formatted my pc back to XP, Vista was shit! you should of seen the calls Microsoft was getting for vista oh my!!! CAN WE SAY CHAOS!!!

Yes! It's 9h58 here in Montreal and I've just called my retailer to get a brand new Windows 7 Pro x64 English (sorry can't stand French windows, I don't understand ANYTHING...) for an awesome 145$ CAN 😀
*gets dressed up and runs away*

no. i tried it and they removed some of my favorite windows tools. like the quick launch bar and the ability to have multiple toolbars on the desktop. you know, drag a folder to the side of your desktop and it will create a toolbar with that folder.

i hope toms keeps me updated on win7 so i know when microsoft fixes these things.

I've been running Windows 7 on two of my QA machines here. I own about 5 licenses for it, 3 via my Win7 Launch party, 2 purchased, and I have access to my company's technet editions. I'll probably still use Vista, though. I had a 500+ uptime before I started screwing with overclocking, and since then I've had about a 6-month uptime so, I'm stable, it does exactly what I want, and Win7 Doesn't have anything I don't already use. (I had fun with aeropeak and launchpads, but now I'm back to what I do on vista, anyway, so it's not realy worth it to me unless I build a new box, which I wont...for months).

The new Taskbar has some interesting added functionality with pinning and jump lists, but its a little silly of MS to have disabled the Quicklaunch bar. Its pretty easy to add back though. I found multiple sites with step by step instructions in about 2 seconds:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/888-quick-launch-enable-disable.html

So, if you're one of those people thats sticking with XP or Vista because you think that the Quicklaunch bar missing is a dealbreaker, there you go.
