How can I stop quicktime from installing itself permanently in the
background. I've deleted qttask half a dozen times from my registry but I
turn around and there it is again....

Is there some way I can do this through spybot?

Is there a qttask.exe shortcut in >>>

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
or
C:\Documents and Settings\Your name here\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Go to C:\Program Files\Quicktime and rename qttask.exe to qttask.exe.OLD

Hope this helps. Let us know.

No. I only have one program in startup that I put there myself

Thanks for the suggestion. I've also disabled automatic updates to prevent
automatic downloading of qttask again.
I'll let you know if it pops up again.

open up quicktime, edit/preferences/quicktime preferences/browser plugin and
uncheck the system tray icon.

It's already unchecked, but qttask was running in task manager anyway!

This annoys me too..

Real Player does this to with realsched

Go to Run
Type "MSCONFIG" (with speech marks)
Select "start up"
uncheck the program you don’t want to run click apply and close the
app
It’ll ask you to restart... thats up to you thou..

The idea behind this stuff i good, but annoying at the same time...
memory may be cheap but it still uses you resources...

Hope this helps
