Question about Ac adapter with n router

Hey there,


So I recently purchased an Asus 802.11ac adapter and I have a Netgear N600 router. I was wondering if they would be compatible because I found it odd that they were less than 10 feet from each other and I wasn’t getting the full Wi-Fi connection. I was always a “bar” short.

"Bars" are only generic indications of signal strength - sort of a "Check engine light".

If overall wireless performance is good I would ignore the bars for the most part. Complete loss of "bars" or drop to one bar may be a flag if problems occur in the future.

You might be able to tweak things some to improve performance: E.g., frequency, channels, antenna positioning but likely to be negliable if only 10 feet apart. Excluding intervening walls, furniture, or interference via other devices.
