Question Question about DisplayPort Release Mechanism

So my displayport cable has a release mechanism (im sure most of them do), I know you have to press the button when pulling the cable out, but do you need to press it when plugging in? Or does that not matter?

while plugging in it´s better to not press the release mechanism, to be sure it really snaps into the port.

It's a one-way latch, you can insert it however you want, but to remove it you have to press the button.
