I have a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 rev 3.3 motherboard, a 6420 core 2 Duo CPU, an ocz high performance ddr2 2 gig dual channel kit, and two maxtor 500 gig 16mb cache sata hard drives. For 6-7 months I have had the motherboard, CPU, memory, and one HDD overclocked on windows XP 32bit to 3.1 ghz from 2.13 stock. I then decided to set up a raid drive and got the second hard drive, and I installed a fresh windows Vista Buisness 64 bit OS. After I installed these the overclock had automatically been reduced to stock. I went into the bios and tried to reset it to what it was but it just tries to boot once, fails, then reverts to stock. I have tried my original 387mhz, 390mhz, 333mhz, 320mhz, 300mhz, and the last one was so close to stock that I can't even remember. stock is 267mhz. I also tried easytune5 for the hell of it but that didnt work either. I also was adjusting voltages and such so i dont think that was the issue. I am wondering what change affected this or how to re-overclock because it just reverts to the stock. Thanks in advance for any help.

Adding the second drive and RAID shouldn't have had any effect on your overclock.Perhaps some of your hardware has just had enough.

I did this yesterday and the overclock worked all day until I started to upgrade, how likely is it that the hardware died during the day, or is the change in hardware and software extra stress. I worked all day perfectly then this morning I checked and it was reverted I'm guessing with the vista install because that was what it did overnight.

If I run prime95 with stock settings will that tell me if any hardware is bad.

Thanks for your help, I just wanted to add that the computer works perfectly at stock settings so I don't think the hardware is bad.

I think I have It working now, either the memory or the pci-e settings were wrong. I dont know how those got changed because after i had it working i didnt mess with the bios anymore. Thanks for your help.
