Hello,
I am asking if there is any firmware for my router Belkin AC1200FE Dual-Band Wireless Router F9K1123 v2 if you know some please tell me.

I downloaded software from Softpedia many times and never got virus before,

As I said, I can not guarantee it's totally safe, however. Especially the "updated firmware" can't be found on the official site.

The reason why do you want to update the firmware in the first place?

i want to make it like a good use of it and have some updated stuff in 2025

It is actually worse than you think. It would be really nice if the router manufactures did not change the hardware but leave the name the same.

There are actually 5 versions of that router. The early ones use a completely different brand of wifi chipset than the later ones. Hard to say what differences there are between say version 4 and version 5.

You are going to have to find the correct firmware for the version you have.

What actual feature do you think they would add. You can not update the wifi itself that is mostly a hardware feature and there have been almost no changes to what is now called wifi5.

Belkin has been know as a "value" brand and their router software feature list is very basic. What feature would you even want....silly AI stuff. In some ways simple software is better less software features that can have bugs.

The only feature most people use is the simple NAT function that allows the router to share the single public IP with your internal machines.

You just continue using it as it is. Belkin is very limited in the first place but I would turn off any feature you are not actually going to use.
The biggest exposure are things like enabling router administration from the internet. Since you do not do admin much on a router after you have it running you really don't even want administration via wifi on.

It is the new routers that I am actually more concerned about. A few can only be configured via the cloud. This means all your router configuration and passwords are stored on some vendor server. Others use alexa so you can voice configure it. I really don't get why this is being done. For most people you go in and change you admin and wifi passwords and you never touch the router again. Why they have to add so much junk to do a simple function I have no clue.

It was the remote admin that was on by default that let asus routers get hacked about 6 months ago.

Even if you get the authentic firmware, the most you will get is bug & security fix. Router vendors will only sell new versions of the same model but will never add features to existing versions,

I will not buy anything that can be configured only via the cloud.

Sadly we may end up with fewer or even no choices in times to come....

With sellers shilling "AI based configurations" on top of that.

🙁
Yeah AI no- no one like AI slops, these days.
