Question Questions about GPU and Monitor upgrade

Hello guys,

In the next couple of weeks, I want to upgrade my setup with a new GPU (GTX 1070 atm) and a new monitor.
I went through some websites with comparisons between different cards, were I now use to tend between the NVIDIA RTX 3070 and the AMD RX 6800.
On the one hand RTX 3070 has Raytracing and DLSS, but on the other hand it only has 8 GB VRAM which seems weak in the future compared to the RX 6800.

Here is the setup which I used to play with.

Processor: Ryzen 3600
Mainboard: MSI B550-A Pro
RAM: 16GB DDR4 RAM (2x8 3200 MHz)
Graphic card: NVIDIA GTX 1070
Power unit: Sharkoon WPM Gold Zero 750 W
Case: don’t know the name, but enough room for a new GP :)

Some further information for a better assessment:

1.How much am I willing to pay for the GPU?
550 € +/-100, depends on the answers I get,

2.What do I want to play?
  • Singleplayer/ AAA Games like: Cyberpunk 2077, Rdr 2, Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc.
  • Multiplayer: Escape from Tarkov, CS:GO, Call of Duty, Battlefield

3.Resolution:
WQHD 2560 x 1400
FPS Singleplayer: >=60 fps with High settings (Ultra is a bonus)
FPS Multiplayer: 100-144 fps with medium settings
I like good graphics, especially in singleplayer / story games

4. Any special wishes? (noise, color, manufacturer, RGB etc.)
nothing, also no RGB or something else needed

5. Do I use my Setup for anything other than Gaming?
Gaming purposes only

Now the questions i have to you guys:

  1. Which graphic card would you recommend me for my situation?
  2. Is Raytracing significantly better with NVIDIA cards and is it a must have or more like nice to have?
  3. Will a new graphic card bottleneck with my CPU and will I have problems with my power unit?
  4. What do I have to consider when buying a new Monitor (Gsync and FReesync)
  5. Which Monitor can you recommend? (250 € +/- 50 €)
  6. Should i wait for the new releases in January 2023?

Sorry for my bad wording/ English and thanks for the upcoming advices.

How old is the PSU in your build?

Case: don’t know the name, but enough room for a new GP :)
Last time someone said that, they found out the hard way that they needed to replace the case as well, meaning a longer down time...while the system was breadboarded to use the GPU in order to make sure the GPU didn't need an RMA.

That case reminds me of Fractal-Design's Core/Define series of cases. As for the PSU, you should be fine with whichever camp you invest into...however you should elaborate on the titles you want to tax the GPU with, since each game title would favored by one GPU architecture over the other.
