Quick launch gone walkabouts

Every time I start my machine, the quick launch is not
there, and needs to be replaced using the right
click/properties/quick launch method.
This is mildly annoying.

Any thoughts or help appreciated.

Quick Launch settings are not saved; Search Assistant Toolbar in Taskbar:

Take extreme care while entering the Userinit value.
