Quiet PC Fans

I replaced the stock fans in my H100i with four Nanoxia Deep Silence 120mm PWM, much better by far,
and the fans cost quite a bit less than the Noctuas most people will suggest. This runs a 3930K @ 4.7.

Don't go for 'cheap' fans per se, they're cheap for good reason, ie. they're generally poor.

Here's my 3930K with a H110 sorted out in the same way, side fans are NDS aswell:

if you don't care about price there's three outstanding choices: first is the scythe gentle typhoon's, second is the noiseblocker nb-eloops, and third would be noctua nf-f12's. all three are dead silent with the scythe's coming closest to outright performance as compared to the stock h100i's stock fans. though at the same rpm all of these will perform closely if not better it's just the corsair fans are super high rpm.

ha, missed that! well then the best you can do really is go to mountainmods.com and get some yate loons, there like 4.99 each! that or look for a sale on the scythe's which i've seen for as low as $15 each.

Reviews can say what they like, I have two Noctua NF-P12s, they're definitely louder than the NDS fans,
and the Noctuas also look like a 1970s brown/biege nightmare blowout, seriously ugly. Everyone keeps
harping on about Noctuas as if they're the best; they're not, and they're expensive. There are decent,
cheaper alternatives, though I wouldn't call the NDS fans cheap as such (similar price to the Scythe mentioned
by misfitkid86).

Btw, Yate Loon fans will be louder than the Corsair originals.

To reiterate: NDS fans cost quite a bit less than the Noctuas, they make less noise, look better, and cool
just as well. I've built two 3930K and one 3960X setups with H100is & NDS fans so far, plus another 3930K
with an H110. Buying Noctuas when it's just not necessary is simply wasting $20. Heh, assuming that is the
NDS models are available in the US (maybe not).

As I implied before though, and as SR-71 Blackbird says, there's no such thing as a quiet, cheap fan that
will also do a good cooling job. Cheap fans that really are quiet only behave that way because of a much
lower rpm, hence not so good for an H100i.

Note that I'm absolutely not saying the Noctua fans are loud (not at all, they're very quiet indeed), just
that there are cheaper alternatives which performer just as well or better, and certainly look nicer.
