Racking 1500VA UPS

Solution
No. It is OK to be directly adjacent. It has front to back airflow. Why do you show the shelf? It is probably not sturdy enough to hold the battery pack ...

A high VA UPS goes through batteries at light load faster than a low VA UPS. Active cooling for a larger inverter. etc. You are configured to keep a couple of servers running for less than an hour. If you want to have a low draw device run for 4-5 hours you likely need a different config.

If you are buying for your use (vs for your employer's company) consider a refurb UPS rather than new. The price difference is large. There are a couple of companies that ship them with new batteries. ex: I bought an old APC 750XL pure sine wave UPS with roughly the same battery reserve as your rack supply for under $200. Your would, of course, be looking for a rack refurb UPS not the 750XL. An email to these companies saying what you needed and what you wanted to accomplish might give some interesting options. http://excessups.com http://www.refurbups.com
