Well, considering I was writing that as you must have been writing your correction to thinking that it had been out for 2 years, it's not my fault you can't count, but I'm not going to go back and edit something just because you had to change something you said.

My point was that you're sitting here saying that Nvidia can't beat the 5970, (obviously comparing a $700 5970 to a $500 GTX 580) but then saying that the 580 can't be compared to the 6970 because of the price difference, talk about hypocritical.

How about you stop being a stupid fanboy, and stick to the topic, where he was asking about the difference between the 570 and the 6970

And you use the comparison to a Hyundai to a Viper, Yes, if you are looking at just straight performance then you should look at the top performance from each manufacturer. There are obviously only 2 for GPUs though, which sucks for us, the consumer.

I've quoted your post after you've edited it and it still says the 5970 is two years old!

I'm simply explaining why "people" compare both single gpu flagships.... to some prices dont matter as long as they have the best.

Thank you, exactly what I've been trying to say.

not really up2date with all these releases but i did notice on newegg. their marketing the 6xxx series as amd..and the rest as ati? are they trying to make another business (amd) succeed? i'm guessing their 2 different capital companies?

Guys, I dont know why this is so hard to understand.

Radeon 5970, GTX 580 (Radeon 5970 is ((380$-700$)), once again, AMD clearign stock so the occasional deal pops up once in a while. GTX is 500$.
Gtx 570, Radeon 6970 (GTX 350$, Radeon 375$)
Radeon 6950 300$
Radeon 5870 (210$-220$-280$) (AMD clearign stock some deals out there)
Radeon 6870 245$-250$
Gtx 470 (Idk, Should be 185$ though)
GTX 460 1gb, Radeon 6850, Radeon 5850 (150$-170$)

same company as in both share the revenue? just trying to figure out why their trying to sell the cards under amd

Aparently, A red logo and a lack of working drivers/PhysX and CUDA suport.

At least, accoirding to Ares and his lackeys.

So the GTX 570 is old just because it released one month earlier?

NVIDIA can also release driver updates to increase performance, so your point is? :sarcastic:

I agree with the people who say that its more on what you need rather than which one is better. If you want PhysX/CUDA... then it should be the GTX570. If you want the eyefinity then it should be ATI. Price-wise, the HD6970 wins for sure.

The 6970 is more expensive ($370) and is outperformed by the GTX570 ($350). Seriously, nfuser, how long do you need this to drag out?

In all honesty, there is not right or wrong choice here. Both cards perform about the same. They are both about equal in price. Yes, I acknowledge that the GTX 570 is slightly cheaper, but the 6970 is also brand new hardware. I was expecting to pay a +$40 premium for it anyway.

There is not a "Deal maker" for either card. Because I own an AMD chipset, it seems only logical that I go with the AMD GPU. Sure Nvidia might be "faster" on paper, but why would I want to mess with my mobo by putting an Nvidia card in it. I would not be able to run SLI but if I go with the AMD card I would be able to run crossfire some years down the road.

Just because the GTX 570 is "faster", "quieter", and "cheaper" doesn't do it for me.
I am fully expecting AMD to release newer drivers that would place the 6970 at higher performance. I am not worried about the Nvidia card being 5-8fps faster in some games at 1900x1080. And to say that it is "quieter" is really a matter of opinion. I have 5 fans in my case. I honestly wont mind a little noise while im gaming. And the "cheaper" stance, as I stated before, new hardware comes with a premium. It has also been stated in many places that PhysX and Cuda do not make a huge difference in games. So why would I want to get it?

Unless there is a clear reason why I should choose Nvidia over AMD, im not going to. There is no reason for me to listen to a bunch of comments saying that the GTX 570 is ""better." Unless you have owned both cards, you are only basing your decision based on a few charts and graphs. I believe that this particular case is strictly a matter of personal preference. My personal preference is AMD.

I made a major error in creating this thread. I originally said I was "seeking people's opinions on both cards." I now realize that the only opinion in this whole thread that actually matters is mine.

So you've come to the conclusion that putting a NVIDIA card on an AMD motherboard 'messes it up'?

How long do you mean by 'some years'?

AMD needs to make their drivers more stable rather than increasing performance. And who told you that newer drivers will come and give a magical performance increment?

So, isn't the GTX 570 'new' by your standards?

Sure PhysX might not be of any use for most, but there are many applications that benefit from CUDA.If you are not running those applications, then dont bother.

Any reason that you have to explain your preference? If not then you're a fanboy who shouldn't have opened this thread in the first place.

Cheers.

buy a more expensive hd 6970 can let you play with 6 monitors which i'm sure you're not going to do that... and finally save your 20 bucks by trying with gtx 570 which will consume lots power that is going to translate to your electricity bill that you won't even noticing it....

@boldor I know how you feel. Last NVIDIA card I had before this build was geforce 4 ti4600. Feels like I'm cheating. Lol, same with processors. First Intel ive ever personally owned. Been and since I bought my first pc with a 586 133 in 95.
