Hello, I just got my new computer with MSI Radeon 7870 and when i play more demanding games (Guild Wars 2, Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2..) the gpu fan speed goes to 100% (4000+ rpm). I tried to reduce the fan speed with multiple programs but it looks like the fan just ignores the settings and speeds up.

The weird thing is that if i set my fan to 40% on MSI Afterburner, the graph shows the fan spinning at 40% but it still does 4000+ rpm and is so loud i can hear it trought my headset.

I'm sure it's not overheating because the fan kicks in after about 2 minutes of gaming and by that time the card barely reaches 50C.

Any advice? Thanks

Np. I'm using MSI Afterburner atm, I've tried Sapphire Trixx, CCC, Gpu Tweak... Probably every fan control software. I've found some people who have the same problem and I guess that the fans just don't respond to the Afterburner under load.

I've removed the card, switched the pin connectors and put it back in and it looks like it's better now. The fans are now going at around 2500-3400 rpm when under load. Much better than full blast 4k+.

It still doesn't respond to the afterburner completely but I can live with the way the fans work right now.
