I have a Radeon 9600XT video card and Windows XP just goes blank on
startup.
It works fine in Safe mode and when i uninstall the catalyst drivers,
windows is able to start up normally. But then my monitor is not
recognized and the refresh rate is only 60hz. Also, only a generic
video card is recognized.

When i reinstall the catalyst drivers, the whole thing repeats and
windows fails to start. I've tried using three versions of Catalyst,
including 4.6
I've also tried repairing the windows installation and i have the same
problem.

The card had been working very well since i've got it and the problem
started two days ago.

Please help, as i am running out of ideas !

Hi, I had the same problem. It was an old BIOS - load the latest version of
your BIOS & you should be OK.

Mainboard BIOS? Video card BIOS?
Being a little more specific is never a bad thing in
these matters. 🙂

But I believe you meant BIOS of your mainboard...
