Actually, the charts here on Toms show a max of 67 C under heavy load, and I've never seen it reported at more than 70 C on other sites. The Titan Z heats up to 82/83 C and then starts throttling clock speeds (much faster than you might think), so under normal load, that's a difference of "a little warm" vs. "noticeably hot" (cooler GPUs last longer, btw).

Firestrike. Holy you don't know? It's a GPU Stress Benchmark by 3D Mark. They've tailored Firestrike now to see what these dual GPU cards can throw FPS wise at 4K

Shadowplay isn't very good, OBS is much, much better, so that's irrelevant. PhysX is only used in a handful of games, so it's barely worth mentioning. TXAA and HBAO+ are kind of nice, and green vs. red color... really? I honestly don't care what a rig looks like as long as it does what it's supposed to and the screen is pretty.

Guys,

my Firestrike score was hovering about the 20-21k range, nowhere near any of those extreme overclocking guys. I think my CPU definitely is holding back the 4 GPUs and I am not overclocking the cards.
Later when I have the fund to get a faster processor and bigger chassis, I hope the scores will improve.

Congrats to bigbootiesonly for the new Z.

Good day..

That's still up there. Nice

I'm thinking of getting a second hand GPU since I have all the parts, but NOBODY sells second hand graphics cards in my country 🙁 I bet they start to have second hand R9 295x2s going for 1.1-1.2k in the US already .....

Guys,

sorry if I gave the wrong impression. I have 2 295x2 in CF not the titan z. I assume bigbootiesonly has the z in this thread, and congrats for that.
The ACTUAL amount spent is not known by the BOSS, but when I have to use separate wall plug for the rigs, I think the BOSS knew something is different..hahaha...and she commented that the room is heating up as well.

Its all relative, I think, and subjective to ones opinion. As long you are not hurting others, and happy with yourself using your own hard earned cash...whatever floats your boat.

Bigbootiesonly,

the real BOSS at home..not at work.
And beyond people in this forum and other enthusiasts forums online, I don't think 'normal' people knew the difference between 295x2 or anything else.

Its only when they see the amount of fans the rigs have and all those colourful leds...

OK everyone I think i may have concluded the GPU debate. I have the top scores for Firestrike for each card. I think the 295x has got this one as the scores are significantly higher that the Titan Z. I understand that the CPU's are different but these are the cream of the crop at a competitive level for each card. Shall we look?

The air cooling im pretty sure is only for the vram which doesnt generate much heat anyways

for games the r9 295x2 will actually perform better because it has a 11.5 teraflop single precision while the titan z only has 8 teraflop single precision but the titan z has a double precision aspect of 1/2 and the r9 295x2 is 1/3 but double precision doesnt really matter in games so it isnt clear which card is inherently faster it depends on the application. and for people waving around the fact the r9 295x2 has a 500w tdp that isnt as much as you think because any 700w psu can handle that even with a demanding cpu and the new corsair axi 1500w psu can handle 2 in crossfire so stop peeing your pants nvidia fanboys and nvidia is probably just starting out at 3000 dollars to net ignorant people who just run out and buy "the most powerful gpu" and they will probably drop the price later so amd fanboys stop peeing your pants also

That last bit of bench scores was only Firestrike. Here I'll put Firestrike extreme and this closes the gap a little between the two but still the 295x comes out on top in terms of Graphic compute power. Just to quell the Nvidia Fans and seem less Bias There is also the all time high scores which the 780 Ti in Quad SLI holds number 1 followed shortly by the 290x.

Well said Bigbooties,

I would think I am also a fan of technology, whatever is the best.
I have to admit I was initially thinking of buying 4 290x to run quad under water, but it comes with a lot of planning, upgrades to the current platform and worse, not all the parts that I want is available close to home. Then suddenly AMD came out with this beauty; all metal, cool backplate, LEDs, watercooling and 2 GPUs. Even getting the best price of the four 290x (ref) here, then adding the cost of waterblocks, backplates, pumps, rads, connectors, I think it would cost more, and definitely more headache as there is no warranty once the ref cooler is removed.
Now with my current setup, I have 3 yrs warranty and the ability to move the card to any platform available without any hassle.

Worse comes to worse, build 2 super miniITX rig to play BF3 with my son.

Good day.

Guys, I gotta let you know that calling someone a "fanboy" constitutes a personal insult and is a great way to get your post deleted, at the least. Attack the idea, not the person.

Probably the worst thing about it... I don't think I can recall a single time when someone has called someone else a fanboy without completely calling themselves out as a fan in the process. So not only is that attitude insulting to others, you're also pasting that same label right back on to yourself.
