have a old dell studio not worried about information loss. just want to go with a single hard drive, can i and am i on the right track?

from what i have read need to delete and reset to non-raid then re-install windows.

Solution
RAID or NotRIAD has no effect on that drive dying or not.
If its going to die, it will die.

If in a RAID 0, ALL data is lost.

thank you back up and running on one hard drive. also this fixxed the error and guess could go back to raid 0 and maybe run better now. something was causing the machine to run a little rough.

well the hard drive started clicking really bad. so i went back to raid 0.

think maybe the drives are either getting old or the technology is old, probably both they are 8-10 years old.

again thank you

back on raid 0 and it hasn't started yet. however i do think you are right though. before it would make a very quite noise almost a click but thought it was a fan. after converting to non raid i realized it must be the same problem just enhanced because it is not sharing the work load.

anyway it is back to the same old noise and now thinking about looking for a new hard drive.

thank you very much
