Question Ram Capacity

I recently got Asus K401UQ

As the Ram details it has
8 GB Onboard Memory DDR4 2133MHz SDRAM, 1 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion, up to 16 GB SDRAM(On selected models)

So does it mean i can add extra 16Gb ram for the expansion? And my total of ram would be 24Gb??

No, 16 GB total

The quoted 16GB is the total amount that the laptop supports, so you can only add another 8GB.
