[SOLVED] Ram for my laptop

I am planning to upgrade my ram since the stock is slow but when I tried to look at crucial's website it says no compatible upgrades available

here is my Wishlist on ram:

ASUS X415 comes in several configurations.
What is the exact model/part number?
How much ram do you have now?
I presume there is an available slot for expansion.
What kind of a unit is it?
I do not see that model as supported.
You could also try Kingston or some ther ram maker.

this is the exact model "asus x415ea-bv366t" and could u verify the pictures I posted above

You apparently have one open slot into which you can add another module.
It is best to find one that is explicitly supported by kingston, corsair, crucial or whatever.
In the absence of finding one, run CPU-Z and look at the memory and spd tabs.
Buy ram that closely matches the detailed specs you see there.

oh thanks but last question, based on the laptops website it can be upgraded upto 16s but I am planning to buy 16 which will add to 4 so what will happen there?

If you have 4gb soldered, I think you should be able to install a 16gb module.
Apparently 16gb is the max the laptop can handle, and 4gb will be unused.
No guarantees there, I am just guessing.
There are no 12gb ram sticks.
The alternative would be to install a 8gb stick.
