So I’ve had Corsair vengeance rgb ram for a while now 3600mhz and 16gbs of it. I recently got another 16gbs and when I installed them, my pc would start, stop after a second or two, repeat that process, then it starts up in safe mode. My 16gbs before were set to 3600 speed in the bios settings and so what I did was revert back to auto and it started my pc like nothing happened. But my speeds said 1333 in task manager with the 32 gbs, and then I did a bios update and the same problem occurs but I’m stuck at 2666 MHz. I’m not even sure what to do. My motherboard is an asus prime b450m a/csm. Anyone have suggestions to help me?

Solution
With an R5 2600 and that Asus Prime b450m a/csm motherboard, the fastest speed supported with 4 stick installed is 2800.
Look here:

So 2666 may or may not be the best speed you can get with that CPU/MB combo.

With a 5800x on an MSI B550 Tomahawk you might be able to get it to run at 3600:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/MAG-B550-TOMAHAWK#support-mem-20

But again since the 4 sticks didn't get sold in one kit, they may or may not run at their rated speed.
go in the bios hammer "delete" key as you boot then set the ram to its advertised speed if it does not boot then you have done it wrong restart three or 4 times should restore original settings if not then look up reseting bios on motherboard manual.

  1. What CPU do you have in that PC ?
  2. Mixing 2 kits of RAM (even if they are the exact same model) doesn't always allow the RAM to run at full speed.
  3. Many motherboard/CPU combos will Not run 4 sticks of RAM at full speed.
I have a R5 2600. And oh I did not know that. So I didn’t actually need 32gbs of ram I sort of did it for the complete rgb look but I am upgrading soon once I can get my hands on a 3080 and 5800x. But I’m building a new pc with an msi tomahawk b550 mobo, that would support the ram right?
