I just bought a 1GB DDR ram 16 chips on a PC CHip motherboard. But, after a couple of days, I can't install anything on my pc (MS Office 2003, Flash MX).

Then, I tried to reformat the pc using Win2000, but while installing, an error appeared asking me to disable memory bios. I tried installing Win98, WinXP home and pro, still can't install.

Then I change the ram and the pc install the os and other softwares with no hassle.

What happen to my ram?

Ram can just die.. it's quite common, call the place you got it from, ask for a warranty swap and all should be peachy.

Used to date a tech and the majority of his bitching was over bad ram and RMA's...

*shrug*

Yes it can, or the chip can be bad and still be deceiving. If the ram was horribly bad it would probably say so during the initial boot check. Though i had a stick that would boot fine and then boot to XP just fine too. However after about 5min it would over heat something awful and kill windows.

Thanks guys, I'd just returned the ram and now I've 2 GB of ram.
The technician didn't said anything when I asked him about the problem.

Thanks again!
