Question Random shut-offs when plugging in USB devices or launching games (event-id 41)

I've been having issues in particular when launching Elden Ring where when it gets half way past the loading screen, my computer shuts off, with no warnings beforehand. This all began when suddenly I would have random shutoffs when plugging in usb devices like my microphone or external hard drives into the front IO (this also happens when I use the ports on the motherboard). The case I have is the Deepcool Matrexx 55 Mesh in case that's what could be causing it. I have already given the computer to a local service center, but they proved to be of no help. I recently discovered Event Viewer, and upon further research found a particular repeating Critical Error:

** End of log **

I'm not particularly experienced in troubleshooting hardware errors like these, but I've tried my best to provide most of the necessary information. I've been running into this issue for about 2-3 months now and simply hoped the peeps over at the service center could somehow resolve it!
The .exe detected on Defender was not run, but i did unzip the .zip file after scanning it on Virustotal. Neither of those are still on the system.
Thanks so much to whoever reads through all this, all the help is appreciated!

Do a bios update and update the motherboard chipset drivers. It's a well documented issue that some Ryzens have had issues concerning USB device behaviors and AMD added microcode fixes to later Agesa updates to address such issues. If the issues persist with the latest bios/drivers, only then start looking in other directions.

Full system specs, especially PSU make and model (or part number) is? Also, how old the PSU is and was it bought new or used/refurbished?

Since what you describe, for the 90% of the times, is PSU issue.

The power supply is a CoolerMaster MWE Gold 650 Fully Modular. Got it brand new in August 2020 when building the system. (still under their 5 year warranty)
RAM: Kingston KVR26N19D8/16 ValueRAM - DDR4-16GB 2Rx8 2G x 64-Bit PC4-2666 CL19 288-Pin DIMM
CPU: Ryzen 3 3300x (stock cooler)
GPU: Asus Phoenix GTX 1650 OC
MOBO: Asus EX-A320M-GAMING
Storage: 931GB Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-07WN4A0 (SATA HDD)
223GB Western Digital WDC WDS240G2G0A-00JH30 (SATA (SSD))
Networking: TpLink AC1200 Wireless Adapter

Thanks so much for going through the post!

Thanks so much! I'll be trying to do the same. Could you link me to a reputable guide to do so?

CoolerMaster MWE Gold 650 Fully Modular

Mediocre quality PSU, that doesn't excel in anything.

Essentially, with the same price of that MWE unit, you could've picked better quality unit, e.g Seasonic Focus+ or Corsair RM/RMx/RMi series.

Besides trying with BIOS update (which will brick your MoBo, if BIOS update should be interrupted for whatever reason, e.g power loss), you could also try with 2nd, good quality PSU. 550W range is enough for your build.

Sadly here in India, both of those options are very unreasonably priced! I do have a UPS, so power loss shouldn't be a problem, but I am still extremely worried about it. If you know of a well written guide for the same, please do link it.

Thanks.

Sadly here in India, both of those options are very unreasonably priced!

Not quite. Checked Amazon India and CM MWE 750W unit costs ~9000 rupees while 850W unit costs ~10.000 rupees. Now, 650W unit (what you have) isn't on sale right now but by looking at the pricing of Cooler Master units, 650W unit could costs ~8000 rupees.
Amazon: https://www.amazon.in/Cooler-Master-Certified-Modular-Supply/dp/B08H2LTN3Q/

With as little as 2000 extra rupees, you could've gone with Corsair RM750,
amazon: https://www.amazon.in/CORSAIR-Certified-Modular-Microsoft-Standby/dp/B07S4WS5L4/

PSU prices are actually quite reasonable, whereby 8000 rupees = 100 Euro and 10.200 rupees = 127 Euro. That's almost half of what my PSU costed me, Seasonic PRIME 650 (80+ Titanium), at 206 Euro (and yes, i did buy such an expensive PSU  ).

Because PSU powers everything, it is the most important component inside the PC. Due to that, i went all out when buying PSUs for my PCs and i also suggest others not to cheap out on their PSU.

I do have a UPS, so power loss shouldn't be a problem, but I am still extremely worried about it. If you know of a well written guide for the same, please do link it.

Yes, i'd be worried too, since loosing a MoBo is a big deal. Now, new MoBo doesn't cost that much but it is very tedious to strip all components off the old MoBo and place them onto new MoBo, while there is a chance that you can bend CPU pins in the process, killing your CPU as well. Oh, you need to remove old thermal paste and apply new thermal paste as well. So, all-in-all, BIOS update, if it goes wrong, it does it spectacularly.

Found video tutorial on how to update BIOS on your MoBo:

I just updated the BIOS, went quite smoothly. The shut-offs still do occur though. I currently do not have the money to afford a brand new PSU, so I guess it'll have to wait. (I'm 16, so no real income for myself)

If there's any other way to identify the particular issue, I'd love to know.
Thanks for the help!

If there's any other way to identify the particular issue, I'd love to know.

To remove all and any software issues (which are quite likely), do a clean Win install. While you'd loose your personal data on OS drive, you could also possibly fix your issue. And it is a free "fix" (if it works).

But when even clean Win install doesn't fix it, then it is time to look towards hardware. PSU would be 1st i'd replace.

Edit:
Oh, did you also updated your MoBo chipset drivers, as suggested by @Karadjgne ?

I have, and the issue still persists. I'll be saving up for a new PSU and motherboard, and in the meantime not use the applications that cause it to crash.
I'll try reinstalling Windows, and/or upgrading to Windows 11 on a later day. Might make a separate post on here when I do.

Thank you so much for the help though! Have a great rest of your day.

and/or upgrading to Windows 11

Do note that upgrading Win, isn't the same as clean Win install. With upgrade, all the file corruption you may have (including malware and bloatware), will be transferred over to the new Win as well, IF you are even able to upgrade your Win at all.

I had some serious issues when i was in the process of upgrading my Win, from Win 7 Pro 64-bit OEM, to Win 10 Pro 64-bit. First few tries gave me BSOD when PC was trying to boot up the Win10 OS. So, had to revert back to Win7 and did all the software maintenance + then some (e.g i pulled everything from back I/O, except bare minimum), to make my OS ready for upgrade. Somehow, it was enough and OS upgraded and booted up fine. Has been good ever since.

Win clean install means that you format your OS drive, wiping any and all data it has, while installing fresh, clean Win back. A clean slate to say so.
