Re. games, look for patches and fixes on the game author websites..

Re. running slow, there are many reasons for this.. have you run Disk
Cleanup or cleared temporary internet files?.. how full is you hard drive?..
you should be looking to keep 25% free space for easy operation.. have you
set your pagefile manually, because if you have, return it to a 'Windows
managed' state..

Do you have spyware protection?.. Adaware, Spybot, and Spyware Blaster are
good products and are free.. is your anti-virus program updated..

Get back to us with what you have done to alleviate your problems so far..

hey!
ill look for patches n' fixes for my games.

i do have disk cleanup that i use quite daily and internet files are always
cleared, my hard drive has a capacity of 74.55GB with 62.82GB free (84%).....
oh yeah, pagefile is system managed..... what else.... my security has got
to be top of the line. its blueyonder PC Gaurd which has anti virus, spyware,
firewall, popup blocker, privacy manager and parental control.

that pretty much covers it.

If only that were true.. I understand that PC Guard is offered free for the
first four months.. well, there are a few well known and respected utilities
out there that have been frr from inception to present day, so if you are
close to the point where you have to pay for PC Guard, now is the time to
uninstall it..

Re. spyware et al, Adaware, Spybot S&D, and Spyware Blaster are excellent
products and work well.. probably a whole bunch better that what you have
now..

Anti-virus freebies also work well, although it is difficult to say for how
much longer they will be free.. AVG and Avast are in this category.. I was a
big advocate of McAfee up until version 2005, which I have found to be
overly invasive.. it does its job very well, but I intensely dislike the way
that it invades the system.. PC Shield gets good reviews, so you may want
that out..

I am trying out Kerio Firewall presently, but I do not like it.. McAfee
firewall was of the intelligent breed, and blocked known bad stuff without
intervention from me.. Kerio, like Zonealarm, keeps asking continually, but
it works well enough, and I prefer it to Zonealarm.. and I don't use
anything Norton, and wouldn't.. your call if you decide to use Symantec
products..

I will not provide links, as it would be better for you to search for any of
the above.. you may see something that I have missed, or that work better
for you.. happy hunting..

The general state of your hardware seems to be ok.. I suspect that your
security is not.. if I were you, download the three anti-spyware utilities
suggested, and run them, remembering to do the updates directly after
installation..
