Hello,

I am having random stutters in games like apex legends, fortnite, pubg. To fix this issue I switched my gpu from 2060 to 3080 evga ftw because I thought 240hz was pushing the 2060 quite a bit and it was also getting hot.
Hoewever, those stutters are still happenning. My parts are as follow:
GPU: Rtx 3080 evga ftw stock
CPU: i5-9600k OC to 4.8ghz(water cooled)
RAM: Kingston hyperx predator 2x8gb XMP to 3200mhz
PSU: Corsair 1000w
SSD: Kingston NVME + samsung evo 840 ssd (games and win are on the nvme)
Moba: Gigabyte z390 aorus elite with latest bios

I have tried the following to fix it:
Fresh windows install
Disabling HPET in win and bios
Switching between bios versions
OC cpu and stock cpu
Swapping psu with another one
Removing the usb 3 cable from the moba (read about this in couple of threads)
Disabling fullscreen optimization
Turning on ultra performance mode
Capping fps with rivaTuner
Using timerResolution + ISL
Different settings in nvidia control pannel(latency mode ultra, max performance etc..)

None of the above fix it. I know that the cpu is bottlenecking the 3080 for 1080p gaming but that should not create stuttering.
I am thinking to upgrade it to i9-9900k or switch to the new i5-10600k if that will fix the stuttering. Just watched a video of GamerNexus where he does benchmark on cyberpunk 2077 with the exact same card and when testing it with i5-8600k he also mentioned stutters due to the low thread cpu. Could that be the reason for them in the games I mentioned in the beggining or do you guys have other ideas what might be wrong?

Quick update: I think I've fixed the issue in Apex Legends by limiting my fps to 144 via RivaTuner. I was looking at hwInfo logs yesterday and noticed that the lowest dip that I had when those stutters appears is around 170-180 fps. It never goes bellow 144 at least for now this solves the issue till I upgrade to i9 and have more stable high fps. I will write back once the cpu is upgraded.

Thanks you all for your help!
Hmmm.
Other than a couple GPU 'Performance Limit - Reliability Voltage' flags and one of your SSDs remaining life is at 76%, I'm not seeing much. Your Userbenchmark looks good. This one is a bit of a mystery.
Have you tried resetting your BIOS (after taking note of the settings you want to put back after testing)? Bring all settings down to stock. Benchmarks/stress tests/games will be slower but let's see if the stuttering goes away.

I was just checking LatencyMon and whenever I play a youtube video it shows in red that my system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio ..
The highest reported DPC is nvlddmkm.sys . I tried reinstalling my gpu drivers but the issues is still there. Any ideas?

I did try reinstalling the drivers with DDU and then installing latest realtek audio/lan.
LatencyMon is still showing the red message when a video from youtube is played. A bit after that I started receiving blue screen of death. Preinstalled windows and on the first restart the blue screen appeared again.
Removed the gpu put it back in and it booted into windows successfully. Installed all latest drivers + LatencyMon nothing else and it is still showing that red message when video is played...

Windows Search > Device Manager > Sound, video, and game controllers.
Are there any other sound controllers besides Nvidia HD audio and Realtek audio?
Does it help if you right-click > disable the Nvidia HD audio? How about if you re-enable it, but then disable the Realtek one?

I disabled my two monitors from audio and otputs in device manager and that fixed the latencymon issue. Just did clean windows install with all latest drivers from gigabyte and stock cpu clocks .. the stutter is still there.

I don't think HyperX Predator XMP 3200 is right for this..

I'm stumped, but here's some other ideas:
1)Uninstall Rivatuner.

2)Windows Search > Gaming.
Disable Game Bar and Game Mode.

3)Does the liquid cooler require software to operate? EXs: Corsair iCUE, NZXT CAM.

4)Update the motherboard drivers besides lan and audio, if you haven't already.

5)Run Display Driver Uninstaller again.
When you start the process for installing the gpu driver package, go to custom install, and UNCHECK Nvidia's HD Audio driver. Also, check 'Perform a Clean Install'.

Disabling HPET in win and bios
I see this one suggested from time to time, but is it even safe to do? Like, doesn't it break some apps?

Thanks for your help again. I've tried everything but the issue is still there. Latencymon is detecting a problem but only when i refresh a youtube video. I don't have an actual issue like sound stuttering while/after the refresh so I am not even sure if that is relevant to the stutter in games. While playing games and running LatencyMon it doesn't detect problems even when the stutter occurs. I have a friend with 3070 msi and he can replicate the latencymon/youtube issue but he doesn't have stuttering in games.

So far I have ran out of ideas and I have spent lots of time trying everything. OCed the cpu to 5.0 ghz and it seems it has made the game run smoother with stutters happening less frequently. Maybe my only solution a cpu upgrade..

At this point, I'd have to agree that the lack of cpu threads would be the logical conclusion.

I'm surprised leaving RivaTuner in isn't hurting your experience, because I've seen posts suggesting the opposite.

Good luck!
