RDP through router I can't control

Hello everyone!
I have an office with a network that I have no control of. I can't access the router to make changes at all. The router does have a real IP address.

There is a server on this network that I need to access through remote desktop. (Terminal services on Windows Server 2008)

Normally I would just pass 1723 through the router and set up VPN. Without control of the router I am lost. I really don't want to use services like Logmein or Gotomypc, because these control the console.

Any suggestions?

I would not be running Terminal Services personally because it is a security hole. Who has control of the router? It may be easier to create a VPN tunnel than it is trying to find a work around solution.
