Having problem with recent build:

Asus P5B-E MB
Intel C2 E6400
Gigabyte N 7600GS GV video card
1Gx2 KVR667D2N5K Kingston Mem.
WD2500KS 16M SATA x2 WD HDD on Serial 1 Master & Serial 3 Slave
RX-630A 630W RAIDMAX PS
NZXT Apollo case
GSA - H22L LG Optical DVD Buruner
Win XP 64 OS

Everthing install well and am able to get to the BIOS, but get the following message when trying to install XP from optical disc: "Reboot and Select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" Have also tried Western Digital Boot disc with the same results.

CPU, mem, Optical drive & HDD drives all recognized by the BIOS.

Have changed boot sequence in BIOS & anthing else in BIOS that I thouht might help. Reseated: memory, graphics card, IDE cable, SATA (serial & power) cables & power cables. Unhooked slave HD & everthing but essentials with no results

Also added Samsung Optical, which is again recogized by BIOS, and tried to boot from it with the same result.

Any thoughts, ideas &\or help would be great appreciated.

Do you have the jumper on the back of your optical drive in the right place - ie: master, not cable select? I picked up an ASUS mobo lately that had a warning to hook up the optical drive to the secondary IDE slot only. Can't think of anything else at the moment, other than try a different cable too.

Have since installed a temp. floppy and it will boot with a Win 98 boot disc but it will not recognize the optical drives.
