Hey, I'm looking at rebuilding my current system from this:

Q6600@3.3 GHZ

ASUS P5k-E Mobo

4 GB of Corsair XMS2 (2x2 GB DDR2 800)

To This:

Core i5 2500K ($179.99)

P8Z68-V/GEN3 LGA 1155 Z68 ATX Intel Motherboard ($139.99 after combo deal)

Corsair Vengeance Series DDR3 1600 (2x4 GB) ($47.99)

The parts can be all had at a Microcenter in my area for well under $400 including tax (which is about the most I'd spend) when it's all said and done. I'll reuse the case, video card (Nvidia GTX 460 1 GB), HDDs, etc. I'm looking at playing some newer games out like Skyrim and I'm wondering what kind of performance gain I'd probably get from this over what I already have. It'd also be great to hear if anyone has a better suggestion for the memory and Mobo.

Thanks

i would say the performance gains from what your have to what you will get will be worth it... but you wont really see much of it in games, just general usage...
the q66 is no slouch especially oc'd,. to be honest if i had your setup and knew that ivy bridge would be here soon i would wait and get the newer cpu.
its only a couple of months so its not a long time and you can add more money to your budget while waiting which means an even better upgrade when you do spend the money.
