Around one weeks ago, after applying Windows 10 update KB5028244+KB5028015+KB5028412, my laptop's plug-in earbud audio began to work incorrectly. I uninstalled those patches then audio works again, then I suspended Windows Update. Today, I resumed Windows Update, and these patches, again, breaks my audio. Meanwhile, I did not install any other software and driver.
Here's the detailed phenomenon:
- ASUS TUF in 2020, using every day, Windows 10 19045.3271
- [Normal] Laptop builtin audio works
- [Normal] The earbud can be detected once plug in, and a Realtek Audio Console pop up as usual
- [Normal] The earbud's microphone is working normally, confirmed by recording with Audacity
- [Abnormal] The earbud does not output any sound, either by playing music or testing in control panel.
- [Normal] The earbud is working normally on my phone, and on the same laptop booted via a Fedora 38 USB image (thus hardware is unlikely to fail)
- The event viewer does not log related errors (at least from my perspective)
I could probably still workaround with uninstalling the recent updates, but that's very annoying. I'm not familiar with this kind of problem, and come to seek help in this forum.
