Had a laptop HDD that went RAW. Searched here and elsewhere for solutions. I really did not want to pay $50 or so for SW I would use once, besides, I was recovering files for a friend...
I plugged the drive into a Mac and simply mounted the corrupt drive and copied relevant data to a USB drive... job done. Surely, a Linux box would be able to do the same.
Sad MS does not have a solution as simple as other OS. Good reason to have a spare Linux or Mac lying around, or better yet to use these instead of Winders...
