Question Red DRAM Light on ASRock B660 Pro RS ?

Hi everyone!

Just tried to build a new system (haven't done that for more than a decade), and ran into trouble, right after trying to boot the system for the first time.

The post status checker light for the DRAM turns to red.

I'm using 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro (CMW16X4M2C3200C16W).

The RGB lights on the RAM turn on but I'm not getting any signal, I can't even access the bios, because the screen stays black.

I put the RAM in the A2 / B2 slots at first, but also A1/B1 or single use isn't successful.

I also checked the power cables, they are firmly connected.

Any idea, what the issue might be?

Thx in advance!

Unplug it from the wall, remove the cmos button battery to reset the bios, Install ram in A2 and B2 and report back. Looking at the motherboard manual I do not see a option for a single stick and what slot to use if you do so weird.

Unplugged it, removed the battery for about 10min, plugged everything back in - unfortunately to no effect. Still red light.

400 W ?? You can hardly power this system with a 400 w PSU.
Going to the Bequiet power calculator you need 394w.
https://www.bequiet.com/en/psucalculator.

Are you sure about the PSU ?
Yes, but I've seen the system running (rebuilt it from a YouTube vid), so it should work out. But I am indeed thinking about installing a 600w PSU.

But if the power is insufficient, it should become a problem later on, not while booting.

got the same mainboard but with the G.Skill Aegis DIMM Kit 16GB, DDR4-3200. Go on Asrock. Now check out the Memory QVL (https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/B660 Pro RS/index.asp#Memory) . Your ram and mine are not on the list.
I have to GUESS(bec i am not an expert),the problem is on the mainboard. it only supports ddr4 (jedec). so you have to look for ram with 1.2 Volt. . G.skill aegis is listed with 1.35v.
I ordered an MSI b660 prom-a board which is on the support list from g.skill. (https://www.gskill.com/configurator). The board is coming today so i will let you know if its gonna work. wish me luck :).

Conclusion
1.) you dont want to change your mainboard ?
=> changer your ram AND USE A RAM CONFIG. (i.e. https://www.gskill.com/configurator)

2.) you wanna keep your ram
=> change your mainboard (msi b660 boards are solid)
