Reinstall OS for Phenom ii 955 to FX-8350 CPU change?

Hi Guys,
A friend of mine has a 990FX AM3+ motherboard running a Phenom ii 955, he has just ordered a FX-8350 CPU. Do I need to reinstall the OS? or will I just be able to change the CPU?

You dont need to,You will know if you do because the windows wont boot and it will keep restarting,Ive switched from a 6100 to a i7 3820 and i had no problems

Just make sure the BIOS is updated to the right version that support new CPU before making the switch.
