Reinstalling windows 7

I bought an HP laptop back in 2011 and its started to run slow. I want to know if i can reinstall windows 7 on it so that everything will be deleted and it will be back to its factory state. I used Magic Jellybean keyfinder to find my windows product key so i have that in hand. I do not have, however, an install disk since HP did not include one when i bought this computer. I'v seen on the web that you can make a bootable flash drive but i'm not sure how to do this and how much space the flash drive needs. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am going to assume that Windows 7 came preinstalled so you have to use the built in recovery that most prebuilt systems have. Your windows key will not work for a regular windows 7 ISO as it is OEM.. What exact model is your laptop?

User will need to use built in recovery or factory reset if available.
