My First Build A Biostar A770E3, Amd Phenom II X4, 8gigs Kingston 1600 HyperX, EVGA 8400-GS and a WD 160gig Hard Drive. I shoot and edit a lot of video i was never able to edit anything up to my specs do to render time, so I built the above mentioned machine. I edit with adobe CS-5 I am now able to do the things that I've wanted to do but i am still dealing with render times that do not make it profitable for me. what should i be looking at Sata 6, SSD or SAS drives, or is it the video card HELP...I am going CRAZY!! P.S. Also when re ndering I noticed that it only uses 2-3gigs of ram is there a way to dedicate more ram to these processes. :pt1cable:

I'd stick to the Adobe list, and the 'Accelerated' is both for Rendering and Real-time viewing in the work space unless it's okay to stutter through the previews.

Otherwise for 'Previewing' simply use 1/2 of the original's size.

GeForce GTX 470 (Windows)

Welcome to Tom's Forum! :)

It depends upon IF you still want to keep your CPU and MOBO?

I'd look at getting a new GPU and one that's Adobe Premiere accelerated -> http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/tech-specs.html

Sure the SSD helps, but not as much as you'd think. 8GB of RAM is the 'magic' minimum, more's always better ;)

Q - What types of files are you outputting? IF MPEG-2/4 then Intel's QuickSync might be worth exploring.

Well, render times depends mostly on CPU. Im doing 3D render too and im getting myself a Phenom II x6 CPU soon because renders take advantage of all 6 cores.
http://www.guru3d.com/article/phenom-ii-x6-1055t-1090t-review/

Im not really familiar with biostar mobos but I would recommend a 990X Asus M5A99X. Its with AM3+ socket so you can buy a bulldozer CPU laterz

Also, putting some extra RAM in you PC is the easiest way to improve performance, however it wont help that much with render times, but I recommend 16GB for 3Ding.

cheers!

Thanks for responding to my question, I kept researching and I ran into this article and I believe my problems are all in the the amount of cuda you have in your video card. http://www.videoguys.com/Guide/E/Videoguys+System+recommendations+for+Video+Editing/0x4aebb06ba071d2b6a2cd784ce243a6c6.aspx][/url]
after reading the article I thought about what all my tech mentors say is "you can almost always find a high end cheap solution if you look hard enough." I found this
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0354535
Sparkle NVIDIA gtx 460 2048mb ddr5 pci-e 2.0 x16 with 336 cuda processors, just like the high end cards for $219.00. I just don't know about this company sparkle??

thanx

And per both of your request i went out and added 8 more gigs to max out at sixteen, then i turned of some of the unnecessary *** in the start up menu and I already see an improvement. watt

Thank you so very much for all of your assistance Jaquith, I have another question for you, I am leaning towards the I7 960 instead of any of the 2nd gens and the Asus Rampage III. instead of the 2nd gen processor and a Z68 what are your thoughts
