Hi - I currently run a 2014 Mackbook Air purchased used in 2017.
I will be needing to replace it at some time in the near future, and have decided on the following options:
  1. Purchase another used Mackbook - hopefully a 2018 model
  2. Purchase a new Linux machine such as one from Star Labs
  3. Purchase a late model Windows machine and then install Linux.
I have no software issues going from Apple to Linux, and my budget is about £500.
Trouble is, I can't dcide which would be the best value for money!
I would apprecite some input.....
Thanks!

Hey hey,

I don't have a lot of experience with macbooks so I can't say a lot about that option.
However, if you are going to install linux on a laptop, it is almost always cheaper to buy a custom config laptop without a windows license, So you don't have to pay for it. That usually saves about 80 bucks.
However I can't really point you to the right site and possibly laptop because I don't know uk ones that I like.

I have looked at the starlabs laptop but I am very surprised that it has a n5000 pentium chip. That is a very slow chip. Even if running on linux. So i wouldn't pick it.

Thats all I can say
