Hi. Yeah I bought a new PSU for my Dell E520 after reading in several places across the web that a CX450W worked for other people. My problem is that when I look at the wires on the motherboard I see one wire from the PSU has only four pins. The one on this new one has no 4-pin wire coming out of it; it has that big one there with the 24 pins, that one's fine. The one I think is for that 4-pin thing has no matching plug on the PSU. This is an ATX unit, I don't understand why it would be any different if it worked for other people, Any ideas? Am I supposed to use one of these other plugs from the newer PSU? There is the big one, there's one with 8 pins and another one with 6 that has another two sprouting off from that like some optional wire or something. I think the 4-pin plug on the MB is for the CPU it sits right next to it on the MB. Any tips?

Solution
The Corsair CX450 will have 2x4-pin CPU/EPS connectors. You will just plug in one of the 4-pins.

*It will look just like the PCIe/VGA connector, but split in half for 2x4-pin instead of 6-pin + 2-pin.
The Corsair CX450 will work, but if it is in fact missing the proper CPU/EPS connector then it should be eligible for a return. TThis way you wouldn't have to buy another PSU, you could simply get one that isn't missing parts or made with the wrong part.

HEY it DOES come apart.... I'll be damned.

I guess I don't need to ask myself why I didn't see it.

I'm 60 and I didn't have my glasses on.

I'll be damned. I owe you one SERIOUS APOLOGY, Volkgren.

dammit. I still say it looked just like one piece

One more thing not really mentioned that I'd like to add at this point is that the Dell E520 is actually a *very* upgradeable machine. Just don't go to Dell to get the "recommended" stuff (as I did). They are all from India, and I trusted them. I believed their upgrade advice in February when I ordered the wrong video card to use with XP.

I'm told over and over "don't hate". I'm sorry, but "idiots" are exactly that: "idiots"

I'll never make that mistake again.

"Fool Me Once", right?

Don't expect those Indians to reply to a God-asked question, btw. They just get offended and there you ARE. Stuck with an AMD Radeon R5 240 that won't work unless you UPGRADE.

That's been my experience with Dell in a Nutshell.

Dude, you're getting a Dell !!! We're sorry, did we mis-spell that? We meant to say "Welcome to Hell", not "Dell".

As I remember, the guy who made that original commercial was busted for selling weed. That happens to be the ONLY positive that I can say about that company at this point. But negative? Hmmnn, I dunno. I never bought weed from them before. I bet their weed sales would fare a bit better than their PC sales do, considering.... I live in Colorado and I know a bit about what I'm saying (although I really know nothing at all, being just a pissed-off consumer and kind of an older, blinder stoned one at that).
