The GTX 1070 in my PC is already showing signs that it needs replacement soon (Or I might've messed up the driver update installation when I hard booted my PC because the black screen was taking a while so it crashed). I've been meaning to replace this GPU but I wanted to see how long it will last before it goes completely dead. I've played a lot of titles on playable settings (like No Man's Sky) and mostly e-sports titles.

I'm not sure what my buying decision should be. I was thinking of getting an RX 6600 because it "feels" like GTX 1070 with a 35% upgrade (like an RTX 2000 series card) and it's within my price range. But then again, I feel like I could save up for longer and buying the most recent gen card for a real upgrade.

I'm just looking for a card that feels like a significant upgrade that's "value for money" (meaning it won't be significantly expensive, just a reasonable price).

For reference, here are my specs (stock settings, nothing overclocked, just XMP):

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X
  • RAM: G-Skill Trident Z NEO 3800MHz CL16
  • Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming X570 Plus WiFi
  • GPU: ASUS ROG GTX 1070 8GB OC

Please list the specs to your build like so:

Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:

PSU:

include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

You will need to mention your location, your preferred site for purchase and your allocated funds towards said GPU purchase. What resolution and refresh rate are you aiming for?
