I am sure that their top end card won't be in between the 690 and Titan. The 7990 is already faster than both of them right now.

I think it would be the successor to the 7970 that would be in between Titan and 690. The successor to the 7990 would be like way faster, seriously.. way faster.

Anyways hoping some serious performance from AMD. This is like the day we all AMD fans have been waiting for.

Top single-GPU card. They may be holding the dual--GPU flagship back for a while, like they did with the 7990. Wonder what it will be called; R295?

7990 is only nominally faster; whether drivers and hardware changes improve CF is yet to be determined.

Has anybody tried hooking up 7790 (GCN1.1) CF to FCAT?

You picked some of the most WORST multi GPU scaling games. Of course its going to look like that when you compare it that way. C3 is like 40% scaling most of the time and Metro is riddled with Multi GPU bugs. Using four games to formulate an argument isn't exactly the best thing to do...

AMD doesn't have to beat any NVIDIA card, they simply have to do what they do best: Provide a card that performs favorably at it's price-point in comparison to NVIDIA's offering. Blowing over 500 dollars on a video card is a fools game. The difference between todays 200-dollar card and todays 500-dollar card dwindles as you approach new generations until the point that purchasing the 500 dollar card did not future proof one at all, you only threw away almost 3 times as much money to hit an upgrade at nearly the precise same time. 200 dollars is where the major market is. Hope Hawaii comes out tearing NVIDIA's competition in this field and we can see if NVIDIA has an answer up it's sleeve.

The flagship 290X is a single GPU card and from what has been told AMD are not making a dual GPU this generation. The 290X delivers close to dual GPU performance on a single GPU making it AMD's Titan if you were.

I so dearly hope that the low end will get some fresh blood.

The 7730 was a baby step in the right direction, but it might as well not exist, considering the +50% jump from a 4670 to a 5670/6670.

As of now, things going on on AMD's part with regards to their upcoming Hawaii gpus
makes nVidia peeps a bit down and disappointed, since they're having a hard time keeping
up with AMD's progress as far as releasing new products is concerned, tho this is no
offense to all nVidia fanboys and Titan lovers since nVidia still holds the record for fastest
single GPU video card right now and talking about their GTX 780 well, KFA released a very
heavily OC'd version of GTX 780 (way HIGHER than MSI, Gigabyte or ASUS can offer on
their GTX 780 OC'd models) with "ultra premium" components with hand picked gk110s
(yep that's right, hand picked by KFA) so thay can push it to its very limit and they
discarded the ones didn't perform on its specified very heavily oc'd stock setting placed in
an eye candy white pcb and that can match or beat (in some way) the Titan's performance
well, "stock" that is. 🙂 but at least it's much cheaper.

And... currently, nVidia is prepping for the release (not so sure) of a new GTX video card as
posted on their Facebook GTX page, tho some Tech sites are assuming that its either a
dual GK110 video card or a very heavily oc'd version of the Titan or something "a bit" new,
what ever that is for sure its gonna be faster that the Titan or GTX690...

Hmmm 512 bit buss would make the r9 much, much bigger chip and we allready know from AMD what the size will be, so this is even bad speculation... The last 512 bit was used in ATI 2900 and that was huge (and hot) chip that newer worked as well as it should have been...

A picture of the upcoming GPU has also been leaked by an official of DICE: http://www.chiploco.com/amd-radeon-r9-290x-hawaii-xt-gpu-pictured-29099/

I recently went from 2 HIS 6870s to one EVGA 760. I have to say Nvidia has won me over, there is just no comparison as of yet. The 760 plays crysis 3 and bf3 completely maxed out no problem. My 6870s could not even handle BO II, which is a shame and I blame on drivers.

Interesting. The size seems to be a little bit bigger than first antisipated. Strange change in AMD portfolio to go on with that big chip. Maybe the only way of making this faster than 7970 without going to 20nm productin node. It will be interesting to see the 20nm refress of this card later in the next year. Maybe then they go back to small chip strategy.

It's not like "I" picked the games or made the benchmarks. There just hasn't been a review which pits the HOF 780 with a 690 or 7990 yet, so I had to compare results from two different benchmarks and could only compare the games that were used in both. What games would YOU choose? Maybe send a letter to TomsHardware telling them they should use those games for their multi-GPU reviews instead of the ones they're using now for all of their game benchmarks. BTW, those games are not only quite popular, but pretty much represent the most graphically demanding games available today, so if THOSE games don't make your multi-GPU setup worthwhile due to "poor scaling", what less graphically demanding game would that isn't already maxed out by typical single GPU cards?

Nobody is price gouging. NV made more in 2007 than they do today by a good 30%. They are giving you a break, or rather charging less for more expensive silicon because AMD persists in giving away free games galore in order to sell a card. The day AMD decides to actually charge what they should charge, and thus maybe actually make some stinking money on their cards, then NV might make what they did 6 years ago.

People saying either company is over charging them are stupid and apparently have no idea what a BALANCE SHEET is. Neither company is charging enough. NV used to make 800-850mil/yr. Now they make 550. Do the math. You want to talk gouging, start talking about hard drives. That is gouging, where their profits quadrupled AFTER the flood...LOL. AMD needs to stop giving out games and raise prices (do you people understand they made ZERO on all cards they sold? They have NO PROFITS...Are you retarded?), while NV needs to just raise prices a bit across the board except maybe the top end. How bad do you want AMD's drivers to get for the next rev? You have to make money to R&D your tech and drivers...ROFL. Next time check a financial report on these companies before you ask for lower prices.

A card that's PRAYING to meet Titan. That's what you get when you ask for such low pricing and free games, thus providing NO PROFIT to make your next card faster, and oh by the way, your drivers SUCK for 2yrs. Crossfire people and multi-monitor people have been pissed for how long now? Drivers for the last gen still aren't perfected and XP users have just been out in the cold and still are (can you say stutter?).

Well considering how BF4 will allegedly be optimised for AMD because of the consoles I wouldn't be at all surprised if they have a slight advantage with BF3 over Nvidia, not that I have any proof of course I'm just going by the AMD PR.

-- IMO, tho im just side tacking here "a bit" lol! 🙂
The upcoming Radeon R9 290 is very interesting judging from its new specs (from a neutral standpoint)
as far as specs and performance is concerned, @ 512 bit bus memory interface,.. I mean, not only a lot
of Games can benefit from it, but a lot of "GPU neutral" Applications as well that uses OR utilizes GPU
processing in order to optimized and speed-up content creation specially in the industry of Multi-media
particularly those who are into very heavy digital content editing and creation and 3d rendering...

BUT, talking about NEWS... im kinda "more" eager with what nVidia has in store this coming week,
since some Tech sites are already speculating that they are releasing a new video card frankly, a lot of
peeps dont have any idea about it but what ever it is in order to compete with the upcoming new Radeon
well im sure its gonna be once fast gpu faster than Titan or 690 under their gk110. Maybe its dual Titan
or dual 780gtx or a very heavily oc'd version of the Titan, i could only guess tho 🙂
