The upcoming Radeon R9 290 is very interesting judging from its new specs (from a neutral standpoint)
as far as specs and performance is concerned, @ 512 bit bus memory interface,.. I mean, not only a lot
of Games can benefit from it, but a lot of "GPU neutral" Applications as well that uses OR utilizes GPU
processing in order to optimized and speed-up content creation specially in the industry of Multi-media
particularly those who are into very heavy digital content editing and creation and 3d rendering...

BUT, talking about NEWS... im kinda "more" eager with what nVidia has in store this coming week,
since some Tech sites are already speculating that they are releasing a new video card frankly, a lot of
peeps dont have any idea about it but what ever it is in order to compete with the upcoming new Radeon
well im sure its gonna be once fast gpu faster than Titan or 690 under their gk110. Maybe its dual Titan
or dual 780gtx or a very heavily oc'd version of the Titan, i could only guess tho

Well Nvidia have been promising Shadowplay for ages now so don't be too surprised if it has something to with that and/or that Linux box that Valve have been working on, I don't think whatever it is will set the world on fire though.

Interesting. the size seems to be alittle bit bigger than first antisipated. Strage change in AMD portfolio to go on with that big chip. Maybe the only way of making this faster than 7970 without going to 20nm productin node. It will be interesting to see the 20nm refress of this card later in the next year. Maybe then they go back to small chip strategy.

Cypress --->> Cayman was a 17% jump in mm2 and a 22% jump in shader cores. No reason to think Hawaii would not make a similar jump over Tahiti on the same node.

I recently went from 2 HIS 6870s to one EVGA 760. I have to say Nvidia has won me over, there is just no comparison as of yet. The 760 plays crysis 3 and bf3 completely maxed out no problem. My 6870s could not even handle BO II, which is a shame and I blame on drivers.

I haven't done Xfire yet due to the frame pacing issues, have you tried those 2 6870's with the new 13.9 drivers or 13.10 beta?

Beats the Titan, in two games (so far) lol! As far as Memory interface is concerned, i
think its 512 bit judging from the chips that surrounds the gpu.

AvP3 is an AMD sponsored title isn't it?

Aye, as is BF3. But for the longest times games were Nvidia centric. It just shows what the developer was using to program their hardware utilization out of. Same can be seen for the 'fight' against AMD FX and Intel.

Nobody is price gouging. NV made more in 2007 than they do today by a good 30%. They are giving you a break, or rather charging less for more expensive silicon because AMD persists in giving away free games galore in order to sell a card. The day AMD decides to actually charge what they should charge, and thus maybe actually make some stinking money on their cards, then NV might make what they did 6 years ago.

People saying either company is over charging them are stupid and apparently have no idea what a BALANCE SHEET is. Neither company is charging enough. NV used to make 800-850mil/yr. Now they make 550. Do the math. You want to talk gouging, start talking about hard drives. That is gouging, where their profits quadrupled AFTER the flood...LOL. AMD needs to stop giving out games and raise prices (do you people understand they made ZERO on all cards they sold? They have NO PROFITS...Are you retarded?), while NV needs to just raise prices a bit across the board except maybe the top end. How bad do you want AMD's drivers to get for the next rev? You have to make money to R&D your tech and drivers...ROFL. Next time check a financial report on these companies before you ask for lower prices.

A card that's PRAYING to meet Titan. That's what you get when you ask for such low pricing and free games, thus providing NO PROFIT to make your next card faster, and oh by the way, your drivers SUCK for 2yrs. Crossfire people and multi-monitor people have been pissed for how long now? Drivers for the last gen still aren't perfected and XP users have just been out in the cold and still are (can you say stutter?).

But Intel has almost destroyed AMD. And there was no reason to drive them into the ground so hard. Frig, you have to have at least one competitor. A mid-range CPU like my old Q6600 was over $850 (release price). And now a few CPU's later I buy an i7 for approx. $300. That's ridiculously cheap.

(as for XP, that OS is dead anyway. Ppl need to listen and upgrade. However, I also wish 8 was gone)

Yes, I just got my 760 about two weeks ago, I tried those drivers for roughly a month. Even when I ran only one card, it still did not keep up with many games as it should.

Yes, I just got my 760 about two weeks ago, I tried those drivers for roughly a month. Even when I ran only one card, it still did not keep up with many games as it should.

The 6870 dates back from Oct/2010 and using 40nm tech, it really is a generation behind. Tom's GPU Hierarchy ranks it along side the 7790, which is a rather weak GPU. Plus Crossfire scaling is only going to get you so far...
Hindsight...you should have got a 5870 or two.
