Hello I spent around 4 hours today studying guides on toms hardware on how to flash my Bios & safely to enable X.M.P.

My problem is in the bios it says x.m.p disabled(which is why I was going to flash the bios and update to new version), but that it is already at max mhz for my Hyperx fury ddr3 ram right out of the box?

Can anyone confirm that since this ram is supposed to be oc out of box, that that is why bios will not allow to 'enable x.m.p'? I wasnt aware that some ram was already maxed out of box if so.

I have already checked comparability on pcpartpicker , so I believe everything is fine.

Here is the link to what I bought for reference If i mistypes some infos https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014R8JHXQ?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1 thanks!

As a heads up, your PCPP link does not work.
HOWEVER...

There is no RAM that is OC out of the box. The RAM you have linked is 1866, which will be well within the typical native frequency of most motherboards, so there would be no need to enable XMP to run at the rated speeds. Motherboards generally don't need XMP to run at low speeds. It can often be when you go above at least JEDEC standard of 2133 that you'll need to run XMP.

RAM just has a rated speed, it's your motherboard that then dictates what speed it will run at once installed. When your RAM is capable of higher speeds, then you would use XMP to effectively allow you to run at the higher rated speeds.

The memory shouldn't be automatically set to the advertised speed from the SPD. You would normally have to set the frequency or xmp profile manually unless the kit is as fast as the supported bus speed of the CPU and motherboard. Please post the model of the CPU, motherboard, current bios version and if possible, the revision version of the motherboard.

Thank you both! I have removed the link that did not work.

Cpu: i7-4790k

Motherboard: Asus Z97-E 3.1 Usb I will show you a picture of my Cpu-z Bios page. I believe the 'rev' is the revision number you asked for? https://ibb.co/qFcWsCL

I saw that there was a possible update to 4790k, on intels website, but, was honestly too confused/timid after attempting to make my usb a boot drive to flash it , not being able to install ATK etc etc..

I can also post pictures of my actual bios if that helps.

Thanks!

It looks to me like the memory kit you bought is actually JEDEC standard 1833mhz according to the manual, so that is likely why it's automatically setting to the advertised speed and doesn't require the XMP setting. XMP likely would have been required on an older motherboard. Also, you already have the newest bios version for your board so don't worry aobut anything on the Intel website for your CPU.
