Question Retrosmc for Raspberry Pi 3 b+

So i beginning to thank.
Do the OSMC file have to be extracted to Disc IMAGE in order to work right on the Raspberry 3

Most of the guides I find for RetrOSMC start with downloading a script onto already installed and running RPi. So, if the file you've downloaded is les than let say 100MB, most probably you've downloaded an installer and not an image
