Hello, my router died and I need to get a new one. Can someone recommend a decent one? I don't need a modem/router combo, but I do need one with wireless.

I tried the googles but there are so many different kinds ...

Thanks for any help :)

What is second source firmware?

The dead router is a Linksys wrt54g2 v1.5
Second source firmware is open source like DDWRT.
OK, with a WRT54G you don't need a built-in modem. ANY current, dual band, router will far exceed what you had. The cheap option is a used Asus RT-N56U or N65U from E-bay -- About $20. Step up from that is an RT-AC68U. I wouldn't recommend anything faster than an AC68U (AC1900) router for you if a WRT54G has been sufficient.

For most people an AC1200 or AC1900 router will handle everything. I like Asus routers because they have good second-source firmware. They also can be used as an access point easily.
What was the model of your current router?

Which wireless specs do you need? (b/g/n/ac (wifi5)/ax (wifi6)
How many concurrent devices do you need to support?

What's your budget? These things can get pricey.
I don't really know what specs I need, my internet connection is fairly slow. There is typically only one wired device and one wireless device connected ... my computer and cellphone.

My budget is low since my needs are low. I would like to keep it between $50 and $100
