Question RTX 3080 Randomly stopped working in my rig?

I have a RTX 3080 in my build. During a gaming session, It very randomly powered my PC fully off. I have swapped parts with a spare computer I have with different RAM, MOBO, CPU and PSU and it still wouldn't power on. I have since bought a 4060 and put it in my main build and the system works. Whenever I add the 3080 back in, the RTX light comes on for a second but instantly powers off and nothing will boot at all. The PSU in my main rig is a 850W Cooler Master Gold V2 which I bought in only March.

I have tried cleaning the PCIE port on the GPU with isopropyl. I'm thinking next I should aim to dismantle, clean and try again.

CPU- Ryzen 7 5800x3D
MOBO- MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX Micro-ATX AM4
GPU- RTX 3080 (Taken from a HP OMEN 30L)
RAM-Corsair Vengeance 32GB (16X2) 3600Mhz
PSU- 850W Cooler Master Gold V2

Any ideas?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

The transient load spikes on the RTX3080 is higher when compared to the RTX4060. I would try and source(borrow, not buy) a higher wattage PSU that's reliably built and see if the issue persists.

What is the make, model and age of the donor PSU you used to troubleshoot your RTX3080?

MOBO- MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX Micro-ATX AM4
Since you're able top boot off the RTX4060, what BIOS version are you on for your motherboard?

GPU- RTX 3080 (Taken from a HP OMEN 30L)
How long was the GPU in the 30L chassis? The case that HP had was made by CoolerMaster and was horrible since it was essentially an oven for the innards of the case. Speaking of cases, what is the make and model of your case and what sort of temps did you see when gaming off the RTX3080?
