With the current price drop I found a few nice offers. Right now I have 1080ti and I play on 3440x1440 resolution.

3080ti for 1069 Euro
3090ti for 1572 Euro

Or shall i wait for 4000 series. My fear is that with all the inflation and who know how will be the supply of the materials that t he price of 4000 series will sky rocket again.

What is your recommendation?

Thanks in advance.

Newer stuff will always have a higher cost but won't be as high previously because crypto is dead, so much less, much much less demand. Wait for benchmarks because they'll be here soon. 3080ti/3090ti is still a massive upgrade from a 1080ti though. Im upgrading from a 1080ti as well, I'm waiting for 4 series being so close to launch.

That is what worries me that the market is so unstable and if the crypto starts increasing again who knows what will happen with the new series' price. Also somewhere I read that the performance gain will be massive but will it actually be? Why Nvidia will want to release a card which is 100% better than the previous series? It will be clever if they just improve with 20-30% as usual unless there is a big competitor releasing some great product.

When was the last time when the new series had massive increase of performance?

If lest say 4090ti is 30% better than 3090ti I could live with that I guess. But if the difference is more I will regret 🙁

I bought 2 3080 2 month ago ( a little bit more expensive than now, I know), 1 for my son and one for me ( we do have identical hardware, built by me in 2020,Jan).

And we are both very happy with this decision.

Why do I tell this?

I am a little bit afraid about the current Taiwan-conflict. If it escalates and China occupies Taiwan by force against US-forces, it will have tremendous impact on world economy.

And could be, that nobody will get enough chips for long time. And one of the victims will be the new CPUs and the new GPUs( but not only).

And therefore I would prefer to buy current hardware and not to wait for the next generation.

Im honestly scarred by the 3080/3090 launch with all the defects (albeit most of the failed gpus where from evga) I thought I had the only good gpu from those early launches but last night rainbow six’s menu just took a dump on my graphics card with all those frames and the gpu caught fire. I would wait to see how they do with this launch this time around.
