I am building a new PC and since I am trying to get decent parts I want to save some money by not upgrading the monitors I have. Currently I run X3 LG Ultragear 32" 1080 IPS monitors, and I am looking to get this RTX 4070 Super card MSI RTX 4070 Super. Hopefully I can upgrade one of my monitors to 4K or better in the future.

The question is, even thinking about upgrading monitors later on, am I going overkill with that card? I currently run these monitors on an RTX 3060 Ti but I am having graphic lag and issues which is why I am upgrading the whole thing (minus monitors LOL). I can't stomach the fact that I am upgrading to an X870 mobo with an R7 9800X3D and not getting at least a 4070 for the build.

2K with high refresh rates would be a fitting upgrade to the RTX4070 Super.

am I going overkill with that card?
If you plan to upgrade the monitor then no, this isn't an overkill purchase though I'd have waited a little to see what the prices of RTX5070's will be and if they're a worthwhile purchase over an RTX4070 Super.

If you want to prolong the life of your current build, please list the specs to your current build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

Thank you for the response. I am afraid the 5000 series will be out of my price range, but still, I may hold off until the first ones are available to see pricing and make a decision on pulling the trigger on my planned build.

I am decided to upgrade though. Too many issues to list coming from CPU and Mobo.
